Bio
Blue News is an alternative rock trio from Terre Haute, Indiana. Their sound is derived from a unique fusion of genres including modern alternative rock, classic rock, blues, funk and more. The band has been compared to popular artists such as The Killers, Kings of Leon, The Black Keys, BRMC, The Wallflowers, Eric Clapton & Tom Petty.
Formed in 2006, the band includes Brent Orndorff (lead vocals, guitar, bass, keys), Reggie Raisner (lead guitar, vocals, bass) and Dusty Richardson (drums, percussion, sampler). Blue News has released 4 studio albums, their debut album released in 2006 by Statue Records Hollywood and all successive albums released by Blame Records. Since the band’s formation, multiple songs as well as an independently produced HD music video have been featured on regional cable television.
In 2007, the band reached national media attention when two songs were featured on the soundtrack for the PBS documentary series Road Trip Nation. During their first college radio campaign in 2007, the band received radio play on stations in several states and abroad. In 2010 two songs from the band’s new EP “Good at Falling” were released on the popular Xbox 360 video game Rock Band 2.
PRESS
“Blue News' strength of songwriting and musical skills has brought them national television attention (...).Not too bad for a trio largely going it
alone.” – Fairwood Studios (Rock Band Network Developers)
“We must tip our hat to bands like Blue News. They are able to transcend genres and write smooth & catchy alternative tunes, yet also able to tame the tough mistress of the Blues. The band has an arsenal of talent and is equal parts skill and soul.” - MuzikReviews.com
"The Signs is an excellent blues/rock EP with a catchy authentic sound. The songwriting, recording quality, production and musicianship on this CD are all very good. The vocals periodically use falsetto to bring out a unique sound. All the tracks we checked out were solid, with varying styles and tempos that kept our interest. Leavin' has an excellent upbeat guitar while Love's So Strong has more of a traditional blues feel to it. If you enjoy talented blues-rock bands, you will enjoy this CD." - RadioIndy.com
"Listening to this music, one can quickly discern that Orndorff is a talented musician, singer and songwriter. No doubt the Hollywood label hears the same potential I hear." - Tribune Star
